Job Summary
Key Responsibilities:
šConsolidated Financial Reporting: Ownership of the consolidated financial reporting packages for month-end and quarter-end closing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. šThis includes ensuring completion of supporting monthly schedules; bank, inter-company and other reconciliations as needed. Provide commentary to šManagement related to key variances within the monthly results. šBudget vs Actuals Variance Analysis: Key support to the Head of Finance with analysis on actual performance against budgets at a departmental level. Identify variances, and recommend corrective actions as necessary. šFinancial Modelling: Develop and maintain financial models as needed to support strategic decision-making, forecast future financial performance and cash runway. šTax Compliance: Ensure compliance with Canadian tax regulations, including HST (Harmonized Sales Tax), and U.S. state tax requirements, including income tax filings and other regulatory reporting. Ensure accurate payroll tax filings as required (EHT, T4ās, Source Deductions). šLiaison with Tax Advisors: Ownership of relationship with external tax advisors and consultants to facilitate the preparation and filing of tax documents. This includes requirements related to SRED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development), Transfer Pricing and Annual Compilations. šFinancial Analysis: Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and provide insights to support management decision-making and optimize financial performance. šRisk Management: Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the company's financial stability and security. šProcess Improvement: Continuously assess and improve financial processes and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control. This includes enhancing financial controls environment and other process improvements to enhance the finance department.
Qualifications:
šBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; a professional certification (CPA, CFA) is preferred. šMinimum of 5 years of experience in financial management or related roles. šConsolidation experience in a multi-entity international company šWeb 3/Crypto experience and interest is highly desirable šStrong expertise in financial modelling, budgeting, and financial analysis. šExperience with inter-company transactions, wholly-owned subsidiaries and transfer pricing processes šExperience with Canadian and U.S. state tax regulations and compliance. šProficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Excel/Google sheets, QuickBooks). šSolid understanding of Financial Statements šStrong communication and interpersonal skills. šAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. šHigh attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work. šProactive and results-driven mindset. šAbility to work with little to no supervision
