Job Summary
Your mission will be:
šProviding timely and proactive advice to the executive team and internal business stakeholders. šAdvising on, and working with teams to implement, a wide array of strategic commercial projects, including new products and business models. šContract drafting, negotiation and reviewing for and with internal business stakeholders. šWorking with and managing external legal advisors, as required. šEngaging with global regulators and law enforcement as required. šAssisting in establishing and managing legal policies and procedures. šMonitoring and keeping abreast of global policy and regulatory developments and informing the business of updates and changes. šPlaying a key role in raising internal awareness of key legal issues that affect our customers and our business. šAssisting in resolving customer issues where necessary and ensuring our customers enjoy stellar service. šPlaying a role in mentoring and coaching junior members of the team.
In your first six months, you will
šDevelop strong working relationships with key stakeholders in the business across all jurisdictions where Luno operates. šDevelop a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter relevant to your role. šBecome an integral member of Lunoās Legal team, demonstrating critical judgement and an ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
A little about you:
š4-6 years of post-qualification experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house role. šStrong academic credentials, with a law degree from a top law school or tertiary institution. šExcellent communication skills, analytical rigour, and high attention to detail. šA strong team player, with high EQ and a positive attitude. šThe ability to manage and deliver on multiple projects with competing deadlines. šThe ability to cut through complex legal problems and propose simple, business-orientated solutions. šSound business judgement, and a pragmatic approach, producing top quality, concise and practical legal advice across a broad range of matters. šWillingness and flexibility to learn and adapt in an exciting and evolving industry. šThe ability to think critically and creatively to solve complex problems, while protecting Luno from unacceptable risk. šThe ability to work across teams, functions and geographies, with high autonomy. šA valid work permit for South Africa, if youāre not a South African citizen. šBasic knowledge of and passion for cryptocurrencies (advantageous).
