Numerai Numerai is a new kind of hedge fund powered by a decentralized network of machine learning models. Every week, thousands of data scientists from around the world compete in the https://numer.ai data science tournament to model our dataset and predict the global stock market, earning staking rewards in the NMR cryptocurrency based on their performance. Collectively, these staked predictions form the Meta Model which controls the portfolio of the Numerai hedge fund. In the short two years since we started trading, our novel approach to crowdsourcing machine learning intelligence has generated industry-leading performance for the Numerai hedge fund, shown at https://numer.ai/fund. The most exciting thing about our performance is that it is constantly getting better as we improve the dataset and as the community of data scientists grows. And since our alpha is highly portable, we will be able to apply this playbook to create industry-leading investment products in any asset class and in any market condition. All of this is part of Numerai's mission to monopolize intelligence, monopolize data, monopolize money, and to decentralize the monopoly. We believe that the capital allocation industry is ripe for disruption. Recent advances in machine learning and blockchain technologies have given us a unique opportunity to redesign the entire system from first principles and to re-build it from scratch.
Job Summary
The Role We’re looking for the next person to join our small trading engineering team, and help us build out all the things we need to go from a great strategy to a working hedge fund. Our tech stack is Python - but we’d love to hear from people with experience in any widely used industry language. We have team members with backgrounds in Java, C#, Matlab, and Rust.

Last quarter our focus was on launching our second fund, so we did a lot of work upgrading our systems to handle that:
The trading pipeline that turns a model portfolio into trades to handle multiple client accounts. Along the way, we re-wrote it from R into Python, added risk controls, and automated our short-borrow process to knock hours off our time to market. Our post-trade processes that keep track of what we’ve traded and report it to our banks, fund admins, and clients. Along the way, we automated everything that happens after booking trades. By the end of 2022, we expect to have:
Integrated a whole new OMS and moved from trading once a week to every day. Grown to cover significant new client accounts, each with their own bespoke needs around risk and portfolio construction. Deleted vast swathes of our back-office code so we can focus on what our clients are really buying from us: consistent, diverifying, market-neutral returns. You’ll be taking ownership over projects like these.
Requirements 3-4+ years' professional experience writing software. We want to see a track record of delivery. Good written and spoken technical communication. We’re a distributed team, and that raises the bar for collaboration. Experience building out, shipping, and supporting your own work and that of your team, in production.
Nice to have Finance experience, particularly on the buy side, is nice to have but not essential. Experience working in a small team with a broad remit. Experience with software development practices like CI, Test Driven Development, and Continuous Delivery. ML and data science experience.
